Sci-Fi Fair @ Tampines Regional Library

The National Library Board (NLB) invited StarTrek.com.sg to participate in their Sci-Fi Fair at the Tampines Regional Library, on 18 June 2005, Saturday, from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

A good numbers of Trekkies responded to our "call to arms" in volunteering their service in the promotion of Star Trek to the general public.

The first wave of Trekkies arrived at the Tampines Library by 12.00 noon.

After a "preliminary survey of the perimeters", Trekkies started to upload their precious Star Trek collectibles for display at the front entrance of the Library.

Some of these rare collections include Trekkies Garak 's new Hand Phaser prop from Master Replica which cost US$400, Darkman 's 16" Enterprise-E model ship from Bandai, lhs1701 's miniature starships from Furuta, as well as Dr EMH 's Star Trek Barbie dolls!

Meeting Star Trek & Star Wars counterparts

Other than the Star Trek fans from StarTrek.com.sg, the National Library also invited the Star Wars fans from Fanforce Singapore to set up a Star Wars booth, as well as the students from Temasek Polytechnics in demonstrating Star Trek and Star Wars props making.

Star Trek Talk @ Library Theatrette

Trekkies Kes, CptJames and Dori were tasked to form an Away Team to conduct a talk on Star Trek at the Tampines Library.

At 1.00 pm, the Away Team begans their mission at the Library Theatrette in the presence of audience.

The Talk covers an introduction to Star Trek, as well as the local StarTrek.com.sg fandom in Singapore over the years.

Prizes will also be awarded to the winners of the contests at the end of the Talk. The prizes include a Star Trek comics book, a Matrix VCD set, and a Space Odessy DVD set, kindly donated by Trekkies lhs1701 and Garak.

Star Trek Starship Modelling Demo

At 2.00 pm, Trekkie Darkman, our Starship Modelling expert, conducted a demonstration on how to built a starship model from scraps.

He completed in building a magnificant U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A from Bandai within an hour.

His demonstration attracted many keen on-lookers.

Star Trek Origami Demo

At 3.00 pm, Trekkie lhs1701, our Star Trek Origami Master, conducted a demonstration on how to fold papers into various shapes of starships in Star Trek ... from the simple Borg's cube to the more advanced Federation and Klingon starships.

His demonstration attracted a good audience of children as well as adults.

Star Trek Lucky Draw for members of the public

All members of the the public stands a chance to win a marvellous Star Trek Starfleet Academy PC CD-ROM game if they place their namecards or write down their particulars in a piece of papers and place them into our lucky draw box.

At 5.00 pm, we invited Librarian Ms Heng Huey Bin to conduct a lucky draw in the presence of everyone.

We are pleased to announced that the winner of the Lucky Draw is Mr Mohd Rizal Bin Idros.

Star Trek Lucky Draw for Trekkies Volunteers

All Trekkies volunteered for the duty on that day also stood a chance to win some prizes donated by our fellow sponsors.

Once again, we invited Librarian Ms Heng Huey Bin to conduct the lucky draws in the presence of everyone.

The grand prize of the draw included an authentic ST:FC film cels donated by Trekkie Garak, plus a Web Camera and a Video Converter donated by Trekkie Dr EMH.

The 2nd to 5th prizes were Star Trek keychains donated by Trekkie Dr EMH.

On behalf of StarTrek.com.sg, the Webmaster also presented a memento, a Star Trek vintage collectible box set, to Ms Heng Huey Bin.
