General Description

The Miranda-class is a Federation starship introduced in the late 23^rd century, serving as light cruisers and research ships in starfleet. The Miranda-class is similar to Soyuz-class starship. The basic design componenets of the Miranda-class are similar to that of the Constitution-Class starships, except for a more compact arrangement, but nearly equal firepower.

The Miranda-class continues to serve in Starfleet in the 24^th century with updated technology and refits, and were widely used during the Borg Invasions of Wolf 359 (ST:TNG) & Typhon sector (ST:FC). They also served with distinction during the Dominion Wars, drawing fire from Jem'Hardar and Cardassian warships away from their larger Galaxy-class or Nebula-class counterparts. The Miranda-classes are slowly being retired, and replaced by other more advance starships in the fleet.

The Miranda-class starship was designed by Greg Jein and Mike Okuda.
