General Description

The Soyuz-class is a Federation starship built in 2260s, serving as Patrol Cruisers and Colony defense ships at deep range federation colonies.

The Soyuz-class featured an enlarged aft cargo and shuttlebay section, as well as several large outboard sensor pods, to boost sensor range, allwing early detection of approaching raiding ships. During the Klingon incursion, 2 Twin Heavy Phaser turrets were fitted, instead of the standard roll-bar found on Miranda-class starships.

The last Soyuz-class starship was retired in 2288, in favour of other more regular starships. It was succeeded by the well-known Miranda-class starship, which hull was modified from the Soyuz-class to conserve the resources in builing a new class hull.
